Shape Coding using Temporal Correlation and Joint VLC
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper investigates ways to explore the between frame correlation of shape information within the framework of an operationally rate-distortion (ORD) optimized coder. Contours are approximated both by connected second-order spline segments, each deened by three consecutive control points, and by segments of the motion-compensated reference contours. Consecutive control points are then encoded predictively using angle and run temporal contexts or by tracking the reference contour. We utilize a novel criterion for selecting global object motion vectors, which improves eeciency. The problem is formulated as Lagrangian minimization and solved using Dynamic Programming (DP). Furthermore, we employ an iterative technique to remove dependency on a particular VLC and jointly arrive at the ORD globally optimal solution and an optimized conditional parameter distribution.

متن کاملVLC table prediction for CAVLC in H.264/AVC using correlation, statistics, and structural characteristics of mode information
The H.264/AVC video coding standard adopted context-based adaptive variable length coding (CAVLC) as an entropy coding tool. By combining adaptive variable length coding (VLC) with context modeling, we can achieve a high coding performance. However, CAVLC in H.264/AVC has the problem that VLC table prediction is not always accurate. In this paper, we propose a new VLC table prediction algorithm...
متن کاملReduced complexity maximum a posteriori decoding of variable-length codes
Until very recently, joint source channel techniques mostly focused on systems using fixed-length coding, eventhough variable-length coding (VLC) is widely used, particularly in video coding. Typically, VLC bit streams are made channel-robust through packetization and standard forward-error correction (FEC). However, when the channel conditions are fairly mild, FEC can reveal itself bandwidth-i...
